Description
The new Unitronic cast inlet is a direct bolt-on upgrade for MQB platforms cars such as the Audi A3, TT, S3 & Volkswagen GTI, Golf R, Golf, Alltrack & Sportwagen. This inlet will fit both the 1.8 & 2.0 motors.
State of the art technology has allowed for the optimization of airflow while eliminating restrictions and allowing for positive pressure pre-compressor. This can be seen on the EFD renders.
Unitronic performed the airflow testing in 28 inches of water which is the exact setup used by competitors inlets. This has allowed for a direct comparison of competitors flow data. The OEM inlet is only capable of flowing 30 lbs/ min before it began to choke, causing air cavitation and thus reducing the overall performance of the vehicle. The Unitronic cast inlet supports unrestricted airflow up to 50 lb/min.
The cast design features CNC machined inlets, outlets, fully integrated PCV inlet & an ultra-smooth transition into the turbocharger.
*Note* This inlet was designed for use with the OEM Diverter Valve.

Disappointing Quality
I really like the Unitronic TIE design, with seemingly good aerodynamics, and one-piece cast-in PCV barb (unlike the APR TIP). However, the manufacturing quality of the one I received was not good, with poor machining and dimensional tolerances. The finish inside the airway is unexpectedly rough, like the mold had been coarse sanded, and not finished. The locking lugs were too thin, and didn't seat the TIE securely to the turbo housing, and the tapped screw hole was so off center of the matching thru hole in the turbo housing that it was barely visible, and nearly impossible to get the screw in without crossthreading it. Once I managed to get the screw in, it seems like the TIE sealed adequately, and isn't leaking. Other than all that, it works fine :)

Like Unitronic products as they have data. Seems to be best flowing on market
