Why we developed the new arm, including changes made

The original SuperPro part ALOY0006K, alloy lower control arm replacement/upgrade was a great success, so when Audi released the alloy sub frame in their performance models SuperPro jumped at the opportunity to redesign the arm to fit these models and previous models with the same desired outcome the ALOY006K provided. With the likelihood of the new VW Golf being released with the alloy sub frame from the Audi RS3 and TT models it is expected this updated arm will carry forward. This lower control arm has been developed with a caster increase with Duroball rear bushing and built in camber change – exclusive to SuperPro. There was a known clearance issues with the original arm which was addressed during the re-design phase. There was also a change to the rear section of the arm during the design phase to include the Duroball which gives you all the benefits and control of a hind joint but eliminates the issues usually associated with a hind joint.

Development process of the new control arm

The new ALOY0018K control arm was developed to have an inbuilt caster and camber change and designed to move the ball joint forward and out to increase the caster by 1 degree and induce a negative camber change of up to 0.5 degrees. These enhancements to the arm deliver the optimal settings over standard to produce a better handling vehicle. SuperPro has stringently tested these control arms on the Golf 7 GTI, Golf 7 R and Audi A3 RS3 in both standard configuration and with lowered springs. This control arm is 38% lighter than the OEM steel arms and delivers more caster, camber and eliminates unwanted flex. Fitted with the SuperPro DuroBall rear positioned, free pivot bushing and for maximum arm control, this arm is the best upgrade available.
