Description
Introducing the T9380, the latest addition to GFB's DV+ range of diverter valves, designed with precision to serve as a comprehensive replacement for the latest generation of Continental brand OEM diverter valves commonly found in late-model Volkswagen and Audi vehicles.
Unlike the earlier-generation diverter valves crafted by Pierburg, the modern Continental valves resist disassembly and integration into a DV+. Consequently, GFB has innovated the T9380, incorporating a discreet, low-profile integrated solenoid. This ingenious design ensures a hassle-free installation process, eliminating concerns about clearance issues when replacing the Continental diverter valve.
Enhanced Boost Holding:
Since the introduction of electronic OEM diverter valves in the mid-2000s, numerous revisions have aimed to address reliability concerns. While the latest generation of OEM diverter valves has improved in reliability, a performance trade-off persists due to their operational method and plastic construction.
During GFB's boost leak testing on the OEM diverter valve in a VW Mk8 Golf R, it was revealed that the leak was significantly more prominent than in earlier generations. This excessive leakage is attributed to the emerging trend of manufacturers mounting diverter valves remotely on plastic piping rather than directly on the turbocharger. A plastic valve mechanism closing onto a plastic seat resulted in the most significant OEM diverter valve leak observed, measuring at 28L/min at 1 Bar of boost. Even with the Viton face seal featured on all DV+ pistons, the uneven nature of the plastic OEM seat face prevented a reliable seal.
The T9380 effectively tackles this issue by incorporating an integral piston seat machined into its body. This innovative design guarantees a proper seal, even on uneven plastic OEM seats.
Sharper Throttle Response, Faster Boost Recovery After Brief Throttle Lift:
Factory electronic diverter valves operate binary – they are either fully open or closed. However, your throttle is not binary. When making subtle throttle adjustments, the factory diverter's binary operation leads to abrupt changes in power delivery, resulting in poor throttle response.
The DV+ boasts a patented "pilot actuation" system that allows the piston to open and close progressively. This unique feature smoothens power delivery during throttle modulation, ultimately enhancing throttle response.
