Description
CTS Turbo Blankets isolate the heat produced by your K04-0064 turbocharger with the purpose of reducing turbo lag, cooler air intake temperatures, protecting and prolonging engine components, and giving a boost in horsepower. In keeping the heat of the exhaust gases contained within the hot side of the turbocharger and away from the cool side of the turbocharger and the intake path, more oxygen per unit volume reaches the engine, and thus, more power.
This turbo blanket fits all K04 and K03 equipped 2.0T FSI and TSI engines with EA113, EA888.1 and EA888.2 engines.
CTS Turbo Blanket Heat Tolerance:
Interior Surface:
Max Temperature Rating: 2100 Deg F
Continuous Use Limit: 1800 Deg F

Another great CTS product.
After purchasing this item twice (dont ask). I finally took the time, and figured out HOW to properly install it.
(leave it to say, patience is NOT one of my virtues).
In either case, I actually figured out how to place it/finess it into place, attach all the neat little springie thingies
to get it up in place/held in place, working correctly.
CTS makes a fine piece. Im currently running their K04 turbo, and FMIC. All great pieces!
Highly recommend this mod.
My .002(sorry for no pics). Hard enough to even see it when laying UNDER the car. lol

Not worth the effort - doesn't fit OEM turbo
Spoke with CTS Turbo customer support, and was informed that YES this blanket does in fact fit the OEM turbo.
In practice however, it's impossible to install and is loose fitting even if you can get it right. I spent 4 hours in my driveway with the car up on jack stands. I removed the airbox, the metal heat shrouds surrounding the turbo, the undershield, the turbo support bracket... and STILL could not get enough clearance to get this thing up and around the backside. Of course, the inside of the blanket is covered with a metal chickenwire mesh, which snags and grabs onto everything. By the time I gave up and removed it the blanket was torn in several places.
All I have to show for my efforts are itchy hands covered in fiberglass.
To get this thing properly install without snagging and tearing you'd probably have to remove the passenger engine mount and support the engine with a jack underneath. But then you'd have a hell of a time reinstalling the engine mount with the turbo blanket in the way. I don't think this was meant to be installed with the turbo on the car unfortunately. Perhaps I'll save it and put it on my K04 when I eventually upgrade in a year or so. For now... the OEM turbo is gonna have to deal with running naked.
I'm sure the product probably works fine, but with zero instructions from CTS Turbo this was just not possible to properly install with the turbo still in the car.
Your mileage may vary.
