They have heeded the demands and are delighted to present their latest premium hybrid turbo, featuring a stainless steel exhaust housing meticulously designed for MQB platform vehicles.
At CTS, many requests poured in from customers seeking an affordable, direct-bolt-on turbo upgrade for their existing IS12, IS20, or IS38 turbochargers. In response to these demands, they have introduced their own journal-bearing turbocharger upgrade.
The objective was clear: develop a drop-in turbo with swift spooling, an expansive torque curve, and steadfast performance. The engineers opted to retain the journal-bearing CHRA from their popular IS38 turbocharger, enhancing it to align with the larger wheels and the performance-oriented nature of this upgrade. Thrust bearings and thrust collars were increased by 2mm to handle additional loads, and the oil passages were expanded by 0.72mm to optimize hydrodynamic wedge efficiency during turbocharger operation. Extensive testing has been conducted on their own and partner vehicles worldwide, spanning various altitudes and climates.
This turbocharger can generate approximately 650 crank horsepower, yielding around 550-600 wheel horsepower on E85 and 460-480 wheel horsepower on pump 93 octane**. It is engineered for street use and emphasizes achieving rapid spool times and robust mid-range performance.
It is advised to maintain boost levels within the range of 29-33psi, reducing if fueling or a stock engine sets limitations. Exceeding the recommended boost range is discouraged, as it may compromise efficiency.

NOTE:
Always follow the proper procedure for checking/adjusting the wastegate actuator when installing the turbo! Always replace engine oil.
