CTS is proud to announce the launch of their latest premium hybrid turbo, featuring a stainless steel exhaust housing tailored specifically for MQB platform vehicles, in response to the demands of their valued customers.
After receiving numerous requests for a budget-friendly direct-bolt-on turbo upgrade for existing IS12, IS20, or IS38 turbochargers, CTS took on the challenge and developed their journal-bearing turbocharger upgrade.
The primary objective was to create a drop-in turbo with rapid spooling capabilities, a substantial torque curve, and unwavering performance. To achieve this, CTS's engineers decided to retain the journal bearing CHRA from their renowned IS38 turbocharger, enhancing it to match this upgrade's larger wheels and performance-oriented nature. In this process, the thrust bearings and thrust collars were increased by 2mm to handle the additional load. The oil passages were expanded by 0.72mm, ensuring the most efficient hydrodynamic wedge during turbocharger operation. Rigorous testing of this turbocharger was carried out on both CTS's own vehicles and partner vehicles worldwide across various altitudes and climates.
In summary, this turbocharger boasts an impressive performance, delivering approximately 600 crank horsepower, equating to around 520-530whp on E85 and 430-460whp on pump 93 octane**. The design is optimized for street use, focusing on achieving rapid spool times and solid mid-range performance.
For optimal results, CTS recommends keeping the boost within the range of 25-28psi or lower if limited by fueling or utilizing a stock engine. Not exceeding the recommended boost range is essential, as doing so may compromise efficiency.

Always follow the proper procedure for checking/adjusting the wastegate actuator when installing the turbo! Always replace engine oil.
