Unlike conventional exhaust systems, the Touring Edition features a straight-through design that eliminates the need for packing material. Instead, it incorporates specially designed resonators equipped with AWE's 180 Technology®. These advanced resonators effectively counteract drone-prone frequencies that can disrupt the cabin environment. The Touring Edition maintains maximum exhaust flow by defeating these frequencies, increasing exterior volume similar to the Track Edition. However, it delivers a more sophisticated and controlled interior experience.

Exhaust gasses exit the B48 engine and enter the resonator equipped with AWE's 180 Technology®, pass through strategically placed ports, and enter reflection chambers. The sound waves of exhaust gasses within these chambers bounce off the walls. By precisely controlling the size, location, and timing of the ports and chambers, AWE engineers have perfected the manipulation of sound waves.

Through this meticulous process, the reflected sound waves rejoin the main exhaust flow at precisely timed intervals, generating a one-hundred-and-eighty-degree out-of-phase sound wave. Which option should you go with?

Due to the structural differences between the 330i and 430i, we recommend the following configurations:

330i: With all factory emissions equipment in place, the Track Edition is recommended for those wanting an elevated exhaust experience from within the cabin. If you plan to upgrade anything further upstream, consider the Touring Edition. Otherwise, the Touring Edition will resemble stock from within the cabin.

430i: Given the coupe design of the 430i, interior acoustics differ when compared to its sedan sibling, with new frequencies making their way into cabin. Due to this, and with all factory emissions equipment in place, we recommend equipping the Touring Edition to ensure an enjoyable driving experience. Drivers can, of course, equip a Track Edition, but it may be much for some, especially if anything upstream has been changed. You’ve been warned.
